The uniformed patrol division operates with a proactive problem solving philosophy. Community contact is frequent, with a focus on increasing communication. This leads to greater crime prevention efforts and determining community needs. Crime analysis and police officer guidance is used to confront current and anticipated criminal activity. Officers provide response to crimes in progress, calls for service, engage in traffic enforcement activities and investigate traffic crashes and conduct criminal investigations.
Each officer working in the uniformed patrol division has been assigned to one of four squads. Each squad is a team led by a designated Sergeant and Corporal. The Sergeants report to the Operation Lieutenant and ultimately to the Major in charge of uniformed operations.
